American League shuts out National League 4-0

The American League cruised to a 4-0 victory over the National League in this year's All-Star Game, powered by former Dodgers Cody Bellinger and Miguel Vargas. The pair combined to drive in three of the four runs, while the National League offense managed just three hits all night.

Bellinger, now with the Chicago Cubs, opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo home run off National League starter. Vargas, who now plays for the Chicago White Sox, added a two-run single in the fourth to stretch the lead. The American League tacked on another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.

National League hitters struggled all game against a steady stream of American League pitchers. They never advanced a runner past second base after the third inning. The only bright spot for the NL was a double from the Atlanta Braves' star, but it came with two outs and led to nothing.

The win marks the American League's third straight All-Star victory and its 10th in the last 11 games. The AL has now outscored the NL 28-9 over that stretch. The game's MVP award went to Bellinger, who finished 2-for-3 with the home run and a walk. He became the first former Dodger to win the award since 2017.

The National League will look to break the streak next year when the game is played in Philadelphia.
