Chicago Blackhawks Urged to Sign Former 63-Point Forward

The Chicago Blackhawks have sent a strong signal this offseason that they intend to be more competitive in the 2026-27 campaign. Their front office has already made a couple of headline moves, bringing in defenseman Bowen Byram and welcoming back veteran winger Patrick Kane. On top of that, they added some useful depth pieces, including forward Jordan Greenway, to round out the roster.

Still, some analysts believe the Blackhawks are not done yet. There is growing talk that Chicago should pursue a former 63-point forward who remains available on the open market. Adding another proven offensive threat could give the team the secondary scoring it has lacked for several seasons, especially with younger players still finding their way at the NHL level.

The player in question has shown he can produce at a top-six rate when given consistent ice time and power play usage. While his last season was not his best, he has the kind of skill set that could thrive alongside a playmaker like Connor Bedard. The Blackhawks have cap space to work with, and a short-term deal could make sense for both sides.

Bringing in another veteran scorer would also take some pressure off Kane and the younger forwards. It would give head coach Luke Richardson more options at even strength and on the man advantage. Whether the front office actually pulls the trigger remains to be seen, but the logic behind the suggestion is hard to ignore. Chicago looks like a team that wants to push for a wild card spot, and adding one more proven finisher might be the final piece.
