WESTFIELD, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Colts defense made its presence felt in a big way during the second day of training camp. Quarterback Daniel Jones executed a play-action fake before rolling to his right, looking to connect with tight end Tyler Warren in rhythm. But defensive end Laiatu Latu applied immediate pressure, forcing Jones to rush his throw. The pass sailed just behind Warren, giving linebacker Austin Ajiake a clear opportunity to undercut the route. Ajiake snatched the ball out of the air and turned upfield, racing the other way for what would have been a long return.
It was the second turnover created by the defense on the day, signaling a strong start for the unit as they continue to install new schemes under the coaching staff. The offense struggled at times to find consistency in the passing game, with pressure from the defensive line disrupting timing on several key plays. Head coach Shane Steichen emphasized the importance of these early practices for building chemistry and evaluating personnel. The Colts will return to the field tomorrow for another session as they work toward the start of the preseason.
