Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has issued a strong warning to La Liga rivals Barcelona this week, making it clear that star forward Julian Alvarez is not for sale. The message comes amid growing speculation that Barcelona might attempt to lure the Argentine international away from the Spanish capital.
Cerezo stated bluntly that Alvarez remains a key part of Atletico's plans and that the club has no intention of negotiating his departure. "Julian is a fundamental player for us. There is no scenario where we would consider letting him go," the president said in a recent interview. He added that any rumors linking Alvarez to Barcelona are unfounded and that the club will not entertain offers.
Alvarez, who joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City, has quickly become a fan favorite at the Metropolitano. His pace, work rate, and goal-scoring ability have made him an essential piece of Diego Simeone's system. Barcelona, reportedly looking to strengthen their attack, were thought to be monitoring the situation, but Cerezo's firm stance appears to shut that door firmly.
The warning also highlights the growing tension between the two clubs, who have clashed in recent transfer windows over several players. Atletico are determined to hold onto their top talent as they aim to challenge for both La Liga and Champions League honors this season. For now, Alvarez's future remains in Madrid, and Barcelona will have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
