Here is a look at the upcoming sports events on the Central Coast for the week of May 18 through May 23.
Monday, May 18 features a full slate of high school baseball and softball games. The local rivalry between Coast Union and Mission Prep is set for a 4 p.m. first pitch at Mission Prep field. On the softball diamond, Arroyo Grande travels to San Luis Obispo for a key league matchup.
Tuesday, May 19 brings track and field action as several schools compete in the county championships at Atascadero High School. Field events start at 3 p.m., with running events following at 4:30. The boys and girls golf teams also have a tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
Wednesday, May 20 is a busy day for tennis. The Central Coast Tennis League holds its semifinal matches at the Santa Maria Country Club starting at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, the local swim and dive teams have a meet at the Paso Robles Aquatic Center.
Thursday, May 21 features volleyball matches across the region. Morro Bay hosts Nipomo at 6 p.m. in a game that could decide the league standings. Boys lacrosse also continues with a game between San Luis Obispo and Righetti at 5 p.m.
Friday, May 22 wraps up the week with a full day of baseball and softball. The highlight is a doubleheader between Templeton and Santa Ynez starting at 3 p.m. at Templeton High School.
Saturday, May 23 offers a chance for youth sports fans to catch the Central Coast Little League All-Star tournament at the Santa Maria Recreation Center. Games begin at 9 a.m. and run through the afternoon.
